Fifty pence coin
Dimensions: 27.3mm diameter
Made out of: Copper, Nickel
Introduced: September 1st, 1997
The fifty pence piece has seven sides, making it a heptagon, albeit with the corners slightly rounded to allow it to roll in vending machines.
On the front of the coin is a symbol of Britannia. The rear as is typical on British coins features the Queen.
Special editions of the 50p piece are often made to celebrate special events.
