The pound is Britain's second most valuable coin. Previous to the coin's inception, the one pound note was in existence. The notes were in constant use and would wear out within months, it was deemed a coin would better suit its purpose.
The pound coin comes with many front designs, including a Welsh leek, Scottish thistle, Irish flax plant and Royal arms.
